La Compagnie Adds All-Business Newark-Düsseldorf Flights for Spring 2027
The French all-business-class carrier will fly its A321LR from Newark to Düsseldorf up to five times weekly, its first German destination.
La Compagnie, the French airline that flies only business-class cabins across the Atlantic, has announced a new route from Newark to Düsseldorf for spring 2027, giving the carrier its first destination in Germany.
Route and Aircraft
Flights will operate up to five times a week during the summer season, using the Airbus A321LR. La Compagnie says it expects to be the only airline offering nonstop service between the two cities.
The airline already flies from Newark to Paris Orly, Nice Côte d’Azur and Milan Malpensa, so Düsseldorf becomes its fourth transatlantic route from the New Jersey airport. All seats on the aircraft convert to fully flat beds, and the fare includes complimentary Wi-Fi and gourmet dining.
Chief executive Christian Vernet described Düsseldorf as “a natural next chapter in La Compagnie’s development,” pointing to the region’s economic weight as a driver for the route. Düsseldorf is the main airport serving the Rhine-Ruhr area, one of Europe’s largest urban and industrial regions.
The Fleet Behind It
The route depends on aircraft deliveries. La Compagnie’s current fleet is made up of A321neo-family aircraft, and the airline expects to take a third A321neo in 2027. A further, longer-range A321XLR is due in 2028, according to reports of the announcement. The carrier says the newer aircraft will cut CO₂ emissions by up to 30% compared with the previous-generation aircraft it replaces.
A single-class operation on an A321 spreads costs over far fewer seats than a conventional widebody, so each additional route has to be filled with premium-fare passengers, and every new route competes for the limited aircraft hours of a very small fleet.
A Niche Model Under Test
Düsseldorf puts the all-business model in front of a region with strong corporate demand. A nonstop route also avoids the connection at a hub that most competitors require. The airline has not yet confirmed an opening date beyond the spring 2027 window, and no fare structure was published with the announcement.
Newark remains the airline’s only US gateway in the announcement, which keeps its operation concentrated around a single hub on the American side. Further expansion on the European side, such as additional German cities, was not mentioned.
