Delta Adds Boston-Venice and Detroit-Athens Flights for 2027
Delta Air Lines will launch two new transatlantic routes next summer and start or extend several European seasonal services earlier in the year.
Delta Air Lines is adding two new routes to Europe for summer 2027: Boston to Venice and Detroit to Athens. The airline announced the routes on Sep 25, 2026, along with a longer season on several existing transatlantic services.
The two new routes join Delta’s previously announced daily flight from Austin to Paris, which starts on Mar 27, 2027.
Boston to Venice
Delta will fly four times a week between Boston and Venice from May 7, 2027, with the season running through Oct 29. The route will use an Airbus A330-300 with four cabins: Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort and Delta Main.
Venice will be Delta’s 13th long-haul destination from Boston in the peak summer season and its 12th in continental Europe from the city. Boston will also become Delta’s third US gateway to Venice. Delta says the route will offer connections to nearly 20 destinations across the United States.
Delta is also increasing its Boston-Milan service to daily in 2027. The airline says it will have up to 17 peak-day departures from the US to Italy and more than 30,000 nonstop seats to Italy each week.
“Italy continues to be an incredibly popular destination for New England travelers, and we are excited to add Venice to our growing list of international destinations,” said Sharon Williams, Massport’s Executive Director of Aviation.
Detroit to Athens
From Jun 8, 2027, Delta will fly three times a week between Detroit and Athens, through Oct 28. The route will use an Airbus A330-200 with the same four cabins.
Athens will be Delta’s 12th long-haul destination from Detroit in the peak summer season and its seventh in continental Europe from the city. Detroit will become Delta’s fourth US gateway to the Greek capital, with connections to more than 40 US destinations.
“For the first time at DTW, travelers in Southeast Michigan will have nonstop access to Athens, one of the world’s most iconic destinations,” said Chad Newton, CEO of the Wayne County Airport Authority.
Austin to Paris
The Austin-Paris Charles de Gaulle route will be Austin’s first-ever nonstop service to Paris. It will use an Airbus A330-900neo. Through Delta’s partnership with Air France-KLM, the airline says passengers will have one-stop access to nearly 70 destinations across Europe, India and Africa.
A longer European season
Delta is also starting several seasonal routes earlier in 2027:
- Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detroit to Rome will begin in early March, followed by Seattle-Rome in April.
- New York-JFK flights to Catania, Porto, Prague and Copenhagen will return earlier.
- Boston-Barcelona, Seattle-Barcelona and Atlanta-Edinburgh will also start earlier.
Detroit-Rome and New York-JFK-Copenhagen will run daily when they resume. Cincinnati-Paris will continue three times a week from January through March.
“By adding new European destinations from Detroit and Boston, establishing Austin as a new gateway to Europe and extending service on several popular routes, we’re giving customers more choice, greater flexibility and more opportunities to travel when and how they want,” said Jeff Arinder, Delta’s Vice President of International Network Planning.
